After completing her studies at Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) as an aircraft engineer in 2013, Dolzhenko began her career in software engineering. She started as a junior engineer and team lead at Svyaznoy, the largest retailer in Russia. During her tenure from May 2013 to September 2017, Dolzhenko showcased her leadership and technical skills by managing a team of software engineers and delivering significant achievements.
One of her most notable accomplishments was successfully implementing a project for the online calculation of bonuses for 14,000 employees within just eight months. Additionally, Dolzhenko played a crucial role in creating an automated module that saved 1,200 person-hours per month and improved the service desk application loading performance by 120%. Her growth from a junior engineer to a team leader at Svyaznoy reflects her exceptional capabilities and dedication to her work.
“After graduating from the world of jet engines, I decided to take my career to new heights — this time, in software engineering! Who knew I could trade turbulence for code loops?” remarks Dolzhenko.
In October 2017, Dolzhenko transitioned to Goods, one of the largest marketplaces in Russia, where she worked as a software engineer until June 2018. During these nine months, she focused on refining existing operation management systems to enhance performance and efficiency. Her efforts led to a 30% increase in simultaneously processed orders and a fourfold reduction in customer support calls related to payment issues. Dolzhenko’s ability to modernize key systems and mentor new programmers further underscored her talent and commitment to fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
“Refining systems at Goods was like solving a giant puzzle, with each improvement piece making the whole picture more efficient and customer-friendly!” says Dolzhenko.
In September 2018, Dolzhenko took on a new challenge by joining a blockchain startup as a senior software engineer and team lead. Here, she harnessed her extensive experience to push the boundaries of technology. Dolzhenko led the development of a token exchange project, which expanded the number of supported currencies seven times and created sophisticated mathematical models for cryptocurrency exchange operations. Her design and implementation of an operations processing system capable of handling several hundred transactions per minute exemplified her ability to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
“Blockchain was a puzzle where every piece fit perfectly into the bigger picture, and I loved every moment of putting it together!” reflects Dolzhenko.
Viktoria Dolzhenko is currently a team lead at ITEZ Official, a blockchain startup based in Vilnius, Lithuania. She has been in this role since May 2019, overseeing a team of 80 members distributed globally.
In her position, Dolzhenko is responsible for team management and the design and development of server systems. Her leadership has led to several significant accomplishments, including designing and implementing an operations processing system that significantly reduced turnaround time. Thanks to Dolzhenko’s efforts, the company has seen an increase in the number of secondary requests (about 2k per second), leading to an improved user experience and the scalability of parallel scaling of all system parts.
