St.Patrick’s Day is celebrated by Irish around the world and this year is no different. However, Sandbox have been quietly getting ready to launch the very first Web3 Irish Pub, providing a virtual version of a place that most will be familiar with around the world.
The world’s first Web3 metaverse Irish pub, the Irish Shebeen, is launching in The Sandbox, a decentralized gaming virtual world, on March 17, St Patrick’s Day. It will be live for 12 days. People will be able to visit, undertake quests, mint NFTs, see local artists and find a treasure trove of Irish lore and fun.
There are over 7,000 Irish pubs worldwide and many don’t just offer a pint of the black stuff. The Irish pub provides a warm welcome no matter where in the world you find yourself and now that they are marked a spot in the metaverse, they aim to provide a warm virtual welcome too.
A WARM IRISH WELCOME TO THE METAVERSE
Jillian Godsil, Blockleaders co-founder and Web3 journalist said: “As a homelessness activist here in Ireland – and a woman whose home was repossessed by the banks – the idea of being homeless on the internet was a shocking one. We can’t give everyone a home but we can give them a place to go and feel welcome and at home.”
To celebrate the initial BETA launch the Irish Shebeen has partnered with Kinahan’s Whiskey to give a way a premium bottle of Irish whiskey to one lucky player in the Sandbox.
The experience was developed by Hermit Crab Game Studio, a Brazilian company with significant expertise in metaverse gaming experiences, working with brands such as Warner Music Group, The Walking Dead, and Jamiroquai, among others, just as mobile game development for some of the greatest world-class football teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Manchester City, with many more to come.
The buzz around St.Patricks’ Day is coming to the Metaverse. Earlier in the week the Sandbox expressed their excitement for the projects:

The Irish Shebeen will include quests that are typical to Sandbox experiences, a wall of fame with 30 brands and artists who are supporting the pub and in the future they plan to host a wide range of Irish cultural events.
