On Sunday, 6 October 2024, Liberland held its most recent congressional elections and four new members of congress were elected. The newly elected members are Justin Sun, known best for being the founder of TRON Tech Limited and the TRON blockchain, Ivan Pernar, former member of the Croatian Parliament, Evan Luthra, entrepreneur and angel investor, and Jillian Godsil, journalist.
Three existing members were also re-elected including Navid Saberin, Minister of Finance, Michal Ptáčník, Minister of Justice and Dorian Stern Vukotić.
Existing members of cabinet include President Vít Jedlička, Vice President Boguslaw Wozniak, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Thomas D. Walls and Secretary of State, Dr. Tariq Abbasi.
President Vít Jedlička nominated Speaker Sun to serve as the acting Prime Minister of Liberland for the next 90 day session of Congress. This was voted on by Congress and ratified.
Prime Minister Sun then nominated two new ministers. Congressman Pernar was promoted to Minister of the Interior and Evan Luthra to the position of Minister of IT. Congressman Vukotić was promoted to the position of Secretary of Technology, while Congresswoman Godsil was promoted to Secretary of Culture.
All elections are held on the Liberland Blockchain. The new appointments, ministries and secretariats will all be confirmed onchain. The election process, governed by a simple set of rules, was entirely algorithmic, providing absolute transparency. This system has a unique ability to eliminate doubt regarding election outcomes, a challenge faced by many countries still relying on traditional methods of voting and ballot counting. Apart from elections almost all other stated agendas are also managed on chain including budgeting, monetary policy, voluntary tax system as well as system or property registries.
Since its foundation in 2015, based on the principles of Thomas Jefferson, the Free Republic of Liberland has attracted upwards of 750,000 citizen applications, 1059 registered citizens, over 5000 e-residents, and more than 150 companies registered under Liberland’s jurisdiction and incorporation law.
