East Coast Hollywood
A leading organizer of a series of education-focused blockchain conferences, Blockchain World Conference (BWC), has announced its next event, BWC South. The event will take place at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida from December 2 – 5. The four-day event will host more than 100 icons of the blockchain/cryptocurrency industry. The conference hopes to “…bring together the thought leaders and pioneers of blockchain to address the entire community on stage and give unique insights as to where they see the world moving forward with Blockchain technology. Blockchain World Conference is here to elevate and unite the industry,” according to a statement on the conference’s website.
BWC South has a diverse lineup of speakers to conduct talks on topics spanning the space from blockchain development, advertising, energy, and data, to launching ICOs, the legal landscape, as well as building smart contracts. A highlight of the conference will be the first-ever “Blockchain Bootcamp.” The Bootcamp, presided over by Mahesh Chand, CEO of a custom software development company, Mindcracker, will allow participants to interact with blockchain technology by introducing those unfamiliar to an introductory course on the basics of blockchain coding. Additionally, the conference will feature more than 30 panels and presentations, along with keynotes from some of the biggest names in the space. One such keynote address will be delivered by one of the richest people in crypto, Brock Pierce.
Fun in the Sun
In a press release, BWC South founder and CEO Eric Cohen stated, “Our goal is to communicate the latest and most significant information as it relates to blockchain and cryptocurrency to push these cutting-edge technologies closer to mainstream adoption. In fact, this week’s announcement by Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club to require some of its fresh food vendors to adopt the technology by September 2019 demonstrates just how entrenched blockchain technology will be in our day-to-day lives, and just how quickly it’s happening.”
To that end, the conference will be working to introduce the art world to the potential blockchain technology has to address issues in their industry. The Art Basel international art show will be held in nearby Miami Beach. BWC South will provide the art community a chance to interact with blockchain tech. “There’s been a great deal of talk about blockchain’s impact on the art world, and especially the security the technology offers. Now collectors and dealers will be able to learn how blockchain can be good for their bottom lines and transformative to their businesses,” said Cohen.
In addition to the crypto-star studded keynotes and panels, BWC South will also offer some unique recreational opportunities such as a women’s luncheon, an all-crypto poker tournament, a yacht tour of the beautiful Atlantic coast, as well as the second iteration of the BWC Golf Invitational.

Update: Article edited to remove mention of Brock Pierce as co-founder and Head of Strategy at Block.one. Block.one states, “Please note that Brock Pierce is no longer with Block.one and he was not our co-founder / Head of Strategy, he served as a shareholder and advisor to the EOSIO project for a period of time and left the company in March 2018.”
